The office pays only if you show up
Coins buy items, bought stars and wake-ups. Most of them come from the Office, and until this month the Office was a button you pressed before putting the phone down: start a shift, come back later, collect the lot. The main faucet of the economy was a wait.
What a shift is now
Launching a shift credits nothing. It schedules three to six work tasks across its busy window, and each one you tap in time unlocks its share of the pay. Miss a task and its share is gone.
- Finishing the shift early cashes out the rest: you pay the skip fee and the unhandled pay is credited in full.
- No other request is proposed while a shift is running, so the window has one job and never asks for two things at once.
- The shift window is sized by its task count, which is why it was left out of the recent cooldown rebalance.
The faucet stops being a wait and becomes something that asks you to be there, and the busy window finally has a reason to be watched rather than ignored.
What it does not fix
The biggest sinks — a pill at 100 coins, a bought star at 100, waking the companion at night at around 990 — still lean on the coin store more than they should. Earn rates and the largest sinks are the next balance pass: the last thing between this economy and feeling aspirational rather than pressured.
